EMDA Vision Statement:

+ The Center for Emerging Media & Digital Arts is a place for campus and community to come together to develop, produce, and evaluate original projects in digital media.

The 3 C’s of eMDA: Campus, Community, and Consortium:

+ Campus…

Digital Media Foundation courses offered every term in 2010-2011. Expanded curriculum, the Minor in Emerging Media & Digital Arts, coming in 2011-2012.

Educational programs offered by eMDA provide opportunities for students, faculty, and community partners to engage in all stages of the production process while conducting critical investigations into people’s roles as participants in and products of technologically mediated culture.

(Translation: We make stuff on computers and think, write, and speak about the process.)

+ Community…

Offering partnership opportunities for development and production of community-based projects in digital media. Students, faculty, and community partners create multimedia presentations to assess best practices for collaborating on the creation of digital media for our communities.

+ Consortium…

Meetings space for faculty and staff professional development, networking center for research and scholarship in technology and culture, coordination and support for conferences and festivals in digital media and the arts.
